The Geoffrey Deckers Award has continued to recognise the work of our Bosnian member, EcoVegAnimals, with 3000e of additional funding for its work to implement humane alternatives to animal testing at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Sarajevo.
We welcome the agreement by Members of the European Parliament which will allow the confirmation of the European Commission’s first ever Commissioner for Animal Welfare – but urge Olivér Várhelyi to use the moment as a catalyst for the EU’s commitment on the phase-out of animal testing.
The work of 2023 Geoffrey Deckers Award winners, Campaigns and Activism for Animals in the Industry (CAAI), will save 500 animals every year after the University of Forestry in Sofia ended the use of animals in its physiology and pathophysiology departments.
